How do I know if my Samsung xp941 256GB is using 4 x PCIe lanes or not?

as above, where do I look to make sure the Samsung xp941 256GB is using all of the lanes that should be available to it?

And which benchmark software would be best to test it's read speed?

And which software should I use to keep the drive fast and healthy, I don;t even know if Windows 8.1 thinks it is an SSD?

What's your motherboard? Some X99 board give M.2 drives 4 lanes.

Its an ASRock z97 Extreme6.

I would use Crystal Diskmark to get the performance numbers on the XP941. If you achieve read speeds around 1100MB/s then that indicates 4x PCIe 2.0 lanes of bandwidth.
