How do I make my computer get priority over the internet?

when I am the only one on the internet I can run my games without lag but if some one ells gets on i start to lag really bad is there any way i can make my pc get priority over the internet?

In your router you might be able to do that. Normally the part named QOS (Asus and dlink )

Do you play wireless, I recommend playing games.

Also, if someone else goes on line and you start lagging, your internet must be very slow, you might want to get 10 mbps at least

No simple way.

If you are exceeding the upload bandwidth you could use QoS if your router has it to favor your machine. If you are exceeding download bandwidth it gets very tricky. The ISP is in full control over what data is sent to your house and what data is discarded when the link hits 100%. What can any router do to recreate data that the ISP has discarded. Some very advanced routers let you artificially limit your non game users to less than total bandwidth. This will trick their "sometimes" into not requesting so much data which should then cause the link to not overload and the ISP will not discard your game data.

And as stated in previous post if your are both running wireless and it is causing the issue you need to move to a wired connection.

thx for the info my internet is slow saddly i went into my router settings and i dont beleave i can it says nothing about QOS i do play wireless but i can be wired (no real change when plugged into the router) so i guess i will just deal with it for a while.
