How do I make my monitors separate with an HDMI splitter?

Right now I have 3 monitors set up to my PC. One of them is using DVI, and the other two are using an HDMI 2 to 1 splitter. My problem is they are both showing the exact same thing and my computer is recognizing them as one monitor. How do I separate them to show different things?

In order to get separate images the monitors need to be be connected to the GPU with their own connections and not with a splitter.

What GPU are you using.

I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, it has one DVI port, one HDMI port, and one Displayport. My main monitor is using the DVI port, and my other monitors are using the HDMI splitter and are duplicating. Is there an HDMI to Displayport cord I can use?

This should work if you're using a 1080p monitor.

It depends on the resolution.

For just 1920x1080 @ 60 hz. You can use a basic DisplayPort to HDMI cable.

For 4K@60Hz you'll need a more expensive active adapter.

Note: These adapters are for DisplayPort from GPU to HDMI on monitor. They are not reversible. Careful with cheap adapters which claim 4K. They often will be 4K@30Hz.
