How do I manually connect and disconnect from the internet

How can I set up my Windows 7 program to only turn on when I want it on? Also, to be able to turn it off when I am doing other things on my computer.

Pull the plug to your router/modem?

If you have a firewall, some of them will allow you to block all internet traffic on demand.

Your "Windows 7 program"? What does some program have to do with the internet? You usually want it on all the time.

I DO NOT want it running ALL of the time.... since I have had Windows 7, I get more SPAM and malware than I ever did with Windows XL

Fairly hard to believe seeing as there should be fewer holes in 7 then XP. You have run windows update right? I'd also grab a router for the protection it provides.

Unplugging your connection won't do squat against spam. Thats up to your Email provider.
