How to transfer music on XP memory stick to my Vista laptop?

the os should read the files if there standard mp3 fine. you should be able to play the mp3 with players like winamp. like any usb stick you just copy the files to the usb stick then plug it into your laptop.

My friend, who I'm posting on behalf of, thinks they are in mp4 format! He's on a "sleep-in"shift at work today, so won't be able to try what you suggested until tomorrow! Thanks for your help though Smorizio!

Plug the USB stick into the computer, open the USB stick, copy the files to the computer, and then eject the USB stick.

My friend did manage to download the mp4 files off the usb stick eventually! He found a media player that would open the files!
