Hey there, just like the title stated, I have no idea how to overclock my intel i5 4670k which is currently run at stock speed of 3.4gh at the moment my cpu is at 33 celcius and the motherboard is at 28 celcius and the graphic card is at 32 celcius. I just want a extra boost in overall performance as of right now.

Solution
Start with just the CPU and take the multiplier up slowly, add vCore (CPU) voltage as needed to maintain stability - when happy with the CPU OC then work on the GPU

Hello, thanks for responding. How would I know if my cpu or gpu can't handle the voltage I set? Will I notice a temp rising or shutting down?

Hello, thanks for replying. Can I ask is there other software where I can up the voltage instead of in the bios and other type of benchmark softwares? sorry, I am a noob when it comes to OC things due to this being my first build I built back in 2012 and adding new components through out the courses of the years.

Yeah i will link you one sec but as a note the software is more risky then in the bios so really take it slow if you use software but i will get the Intel CPU OC link. If you need i can get a Nvidia GPU OC link to?

Thanks. How about GPU? is it safe to OC GPU also or will it shorten the life cycle?

____________

Could you expound on this 'take the multiplier all the way up' And when you mention MHz are you talking about the BCLK which at stock is 100?

You did read this didn't you, this is an Intel rig not AMD, which are two completely different things and do not operate the same. You take the multiplier up 'all the way' would be up over 5 GHz, and since Intel runs on a 100 BCLK which is the closest thing to what you 'suggest' setting it to 200 would likely fry the mobo.

In the future please read the threads and do NOT offer advice if you don't know what you are talking about.

Hey there, So... the previous person who posted the tips and advice was incorrect according to you?
If so, may you give me some instruction or anyway to do the OC? Thanks in advance.

The videos do indeed talk Intel - he was talking AMD when he spoke of raising the multiplier as high as it goes and the other, which is why I asked him to specify. AMD and Intel use different approaches to OCing. In either case, it's best to thing up slowly, not just jump to the highest someone has suggested which could fry components
