So I have a 1TB HDD and just bought a Seagate 1TB SSHD. Upon installing the SSHD I used the Seagate Disc Wizard to clone my HDD to my SSHD.

After doing this I went into the BIOS and set the SSHD as the Hard Disk BBS Priority and as the first boot drive (I tried both with the HDD connected and with the HDD disconnected) and I got a black screen with either a blinking mouse or a black screen with just the mouse after I sign in. Both times I was able to move the mouse around but the screen was entirely black.

After trying those I went back into the BIOS and reset everything to default, and set my HDD as the Hard Disk Drive BBS Priority. The current boot order is

1. DVD
2. HDD

How would I properly configure the SSHD to be my boot drive and my HDD as mainly storage?

Side note:
My motherboard is the z97-A

Hey there, Mark.

Cloning your HDD is not 100% guaranteed to work. That's why I would always recommend a fresh install rather than a clone. Try updating your BIOS/UEFI and the SSHD's firmware if there are available updates. After that go ahead and try the cloning process again. You could also download the SSHD manufacturer's diagnostics tool and test the drive for errors, to see if anything unusual pops-up.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
