How do I put an OS on Drive D. At present I only have personal files on Drive D

I want to put Windows XP on Drive D, but I can't boot up Drive D because it only has my personal files. Will Windows XP disk in my CD drive give me an opportunity to choose which drive it is installed on?

Windows 8.1 is on the C drive, but my Canon camera software does not work well with 8.1, so I want to install Windows XP Pro w/SP3 on drive D
