So yea, I'm really new with tech stuff but I need to get a new CPU.

This is my PC's parts:
Motherboard: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming
CPU: Intel Corre i5 6402P
GPU: Geforce GTX1070

So I have water cooling on my CPU and I want to replace my 6402P with a Intel Core i7-6700K Skylake but as I said, I'm new. Can someone give me a complete run-down of what I need to do?

what kind of water cooler do you have is it a all in one cooler or a custom loop if it is a custom is it soft tube or hard.
if it is a ALL IN ONE just remove the block form CPU add new CPU reapply new past remount block do the same with a soft tube custom loop.
if you have a hard acrylic tube custom loop you will need to drain it to remove the CPU block.

You need to first remove the cooler pump block.
Before you do, run the pc a bit to heat up your old chip.
That softens the paste and makes it easier to remove the cooler.

Remove the old processor and insert the new.
Make certain that the new cpu is oriented properly.
Be very careful to drop in the new cpu straight in to the socket.
Do not smoosh it around to get it seated or you will damage the motherboard pins.
It may be harder than you think to push down the clamp.

Clean off the old paste from the cooler.
Use a lint free coffee filter and alcohol.
Apply new paste. A small rice sized drop in the center of the cpu chip is sufficient.
It will spread out under heat and pressure.

Reattach the cpu cooler block.
Tighten it down gradually and in a criss cross rotation to get the cooler clamped down level.

done.
