How do i reset my password dell inspiron laptop 1545

Hello,
i was going to sell my computer to a friend he never came up with the money it wasnt running windows but now when i boot up i get a white screen asking for a password then windows i get the first one but i want to erase all that to the way it was when i gave it to him or a factory rest but cant get thru the passwprds

Ask him what passwords he set.

If you get the first one, which I suspect is BIOS, then you should be free to do a standard system restore. If you deleted the system restore partition then you're at least free to install your preferred choice of Linux.

What's the actual problem??
