how do I retrieve files stored on WD Passport for Mac?

Solution
Welcome to the community, @jaded40!

Can you please share more details about your system? If you are trying to access the files on the WD My Passport for Mac on a Windows OS computer, you will need a third-party utility to read the file system (HFS+, Mac OS specific), which the drive is most probably formatted in. Another way for you to access the files would be through a Mac OS computer that can easily read/write on the external drive. If you are still facing troubles with the access, you should try testing the HDD for defects through the Disk Utility on the Mac.

Hope it works. Keep us posted with the details!

Prividing that the drive is functional:
- Stop using the drive
- Depending on how the drive was formatted (NTFS, HFS), find a "file recover / undelete" utility compatible with your MacOS, then use said utility on your computer.

YOu might have better chances if you boot Linux on another computer (or on your laptop), or seek professional help.

Hello,
You do saved any new file on this WD hard drive after you lose your desired older files?
Just stop rewriting this drive and go undo delete or format with the help of hard drive file recovery technologies.
Always select one over the internet according to your own needs.
