How Do I Scan Receipts, etc.?

I've been trying to figure out how to scan stuff like receipts and
documents with handwriting.

My scanning software programs (ArcSoft Photostudio, CanoScan, and
ScanSoft OmniPage SE) do a lousy job.

I've tried scanning at different resolutions but no luck.

Is there some kind of special trick to scanning this stuff?

In another post, someone said to scan the material as a graphic?

Exactly how is that done?

Take a look at Art-Copy at ScanHelp.com. It makes scanning to file
easy, and some of the controls (highlight, shadow, gamma, etc) are
easily set from the program.

Usually scaning for OCR works. Or scan as Line Art (graphics) at 300 t0 600
DPI.

You need to find out how to adjust the gamma. I don't know your software but
try a search for gamma or curves or look for graphs with sliders or a
diagonal line
that you can click and push in manual settings.
