How do I set up a second wireless connection to a NAS?

I live in a shared house which has a shared broadband connection via a cable modem. I would like to have my own NAS however I am unhappy about connecting this in the lounge where my house mates could tamper with it. My question is would I be able to set up another connection that does not have internet access if I purchase a wireless router and then connect the nas to it via an ethernet connection?. I would then like to access it by connecting wirelessly on my mac. Is this possible. Will I also need to reconfigure the new router IP address as I assume this could be on the same address as the existing one. Any advice would assist. Thanks

if all your trying to do is segregate your NAS for your bedroom for example to play movies on your laptop wirelessly , then

For Apple users, the standard AirPort Extreme wireless router works this way, offering a USB port you can connect external drives to you. Many, many routers — especially the higher-end ones, as the low-end, bottom-of-the-barrel ones don’t want to splurge on USB hardware and the extra software — include USB ports so they can function as a NAS in this way.

plug nas into airport router, if you want to watch a movie just use that router (leave it as not internet connected) and when you need internet switch wifi. that way you don't have to share the movie bandwidth either with them.

just make sure to NOT use the same SSID, nor the same Channel

Hi thank you for your response. Just want to clarify further. I am only using the NAS drive to back up my photos and videos and access these from my MAC and be able to copy files to the nas. I would not like to use the airport extreame as these do not have user replaceable drives or ability to increase capacity at a later date. I am aiming to get a 5 bay solution and configure it in raid configuration. The solution above would mean me connecting the airport extreme to the router which is in the lounge (I don't want any device in view / accessible to house mates) so wanted to set up something separate in my locked room.

If I buy a second wireless N router could I not connect the NAS drive via ethernet cable to the second router and then connect wirelessly to it on my Mac?. I am not interested about accessing the internet with this connection I just want the ability to back up files to it.

With many current NAS boxes, you can connect a WiFi adapter directly to its own USB ports.
