how do i short stroke my hard-drive windows 8

was wojndering about how to do this i downloaded the intel matrix raid and the drive is in achi but coulkd'nt find a raid boot menu or nothing do i need a partition disk or can it be done within win 8

You have to enable RAID (as the SATA Mode type) in your BIOS to enable the RAID controller. Have you done that yet?

Pressing Ctrl-I at post should enable the RAID configuration utility. Have you tried that yet?

yea its enabled buyt theres no 2 disk to put into raid

Then why are you trying to use the RAID tool? If you are only using a single drive, just run AHCI and install Windows. RAID not required for that.

Yes, there is slightly better performance for data drives. Unless you are using multiple drives I see no need in short stroking a single drive.

ok well how would i go about using using a SSD once i get an extra for boosting performance of a drive? i have an old 32gb onhe has faster acess tiome then a spinner disk but not enpouygh room for my needs and bout as fast as the spinner i have but was wondering hpowsm can i use an ssd to improve performance of a spinner drive like those hybrid drives?

also how do i change where the temp file directory is stored?
