Question How do I speed up my USB tethering speed???

Hi I've been using usb tethering to provide my pc(powerful but bit older desktop) with internet but it's rather slow 1-3 mbps, where if I tether to my laptop (newer expensive laptop it gets a stable 20 mbps. Both are running the newest version of Windows 10 2004 and I've tried updating drivers and removing them but only he basic ones as I'm not that knowledgeable in that area, I've been scrolling for hours on forums trying to fix it but to no fix.

What type of USB port did you connect it to. I know the really old ones only ran 1.5mbps. You really should use at least a USB2 port since I think USB runs half duplex when it is running as a tether which will reduce the speed.

My motherboard has usb 2.0 and 2 x usb 3.0 ports, there is almost no difference between the two, it is an older mb but it does still have the higher speed ports.
