How do i start an xp dell in safe mode

Press and hold the [F8] key while the system boots.

Start an XP dell in safe mode the same way you start any computer with XP in safe mode.
Turn it on and slowly but repeatedly tap F8 untill you have a options menu then select safe mode from it.
