Question How do I stop Chrome going back a page when I click on a particular page from my web history ?

So I went into Chrome and selected something from my browsing history, and every time I click it, Chrome goes back a page and takes me right back to where my history is. I don't know why this is happening, but I tried making Chrome only open a particular page on startup rather than starting where I left off, as well as checking extensions to see if they were interfering with the browser's history, and also did a virus scan with Windows Security, and none of those worked. If someone could help me fix this annoying issue that would be greatly appreciated.

If it helps to know I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on an HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 14m-dh1xxx laptop and I'm using Chrome version 132.0.6834.83

Try opening chrome in its own safe mode (browser only)

In the windows Run box type the following...

chrome --incognito

Then try out your issue to see if it works.

Sounds like there might be a glitch with Chrome’s history or session. Try clearing your cache and cookies to see if that helps. If not, you could try resetting Chrome settings or reinstalling it to fix any corrupt files. If the problem still happens, check for updates or consider reinstalling Windows if there’s a system issue.
