Solution
Hello,

You may try this solution by going into control panel and open the touchpad options (under Synaptics) and disable the swipe to zoom function. If you don't see Synaptics in control panel then let me know what do you see and I'll see if I can find a solution. Please provide the make and model of your computer as that will help in finding a solution.

Thank you

Hi Slashgeek,

I have a Sony ultrabook which I recently upgraded to windows 10 and I too am having problems with the zoom, which enlarges apparently on its own.

I can't see anything in Control Panel that says Synaptics. Any ideas for a fix? Thanks in advance

I have a Dell with Windows 10 with the same problem. I go into setting - devices - mouse and touchpad and did not find what I needed, but when I put 'zoom' into the search function on the settings window, it gave me 'magnifier.' So I was able to turn that off, but then it keeps turning itself on again. I saw no option to 'apply' my choice. AND after I turned it off, it puts a little magnifier window in the middle of my screen that I have to close. So it's just as it was, magnifying when I don't want it to. Thanks in advance for any help!

This has been driving me NUTS and I just figured it out! I have 2 laptops, a nice new Lenovo Yoga, which is solved exactly as described above (Synaptics options). But on my goofy el-cheapo ASUS, i don't have that option. However.... in the bottom right there's usually a little "carat" symbol next to the battery display. In that carat if you click it is an app called "ASUS Smart Gesture". Run that. Inside that app there are all the touchpad gestures and one of them is "click to zoom" which is set by default. This is NOT to be confused with the "magnifier", which I also turned off, but doesn't affect those accidental zoom gestures from screwing up your viewing! I hope this helps!

This was amazing! It was so frustrating. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

So anyone who has an HP I found out how to change it!
1. Go to settings
2.Go to devices
3.Go to mouse and touchpad
4. Go to the bottom where it says Related Settings and click (additional mouse settings)
5.Go to the last tap to device settings
6. Click on the highlighted item called synaptics Touchpad (make sure it is highlighted)
7. Go to settings
8. In there you can do anything with the mouse/keypad (change the zoom option and all)

I hope that has helped a little more... I was going crazy trying to find it but it just took a little more searching to find what the previous person was talking about

Thank you, I have a new ASUS and this was driving me crazy too, I have now applied what you said and it worked!

I have HP Pavilion Windows 10 laptop do the same issue, Zooming in and out out of control. I don't see any Synotics option

The touchpad options are in Control Panel and Mouse. Then look for touchpad . Synaptics is the driver name for many touchpad systems. I turn off tapping for click and the zoom and multifinger movements.

I tried the solutions above but they didn't work for me. Here is what I finally did to stop this annoying zooming in and out on my desktop or every time I opened some app in Windows 10 -- best of all and it worked: Click Windows (on bottom left) > Settings (gear icon) > Ease of access > Other options (on left) > Play animation in Windows > Off. Restart your laptop.
