how do i swap hard drive data?

i have a hitachi travelstar on my current laptop, but i would like to swap all the data in there with another laptops scorpio blue. is this possible and/or effective?

I think you will have to connect both to one system and go for the traditional copy paste!

Copy/paste will do it only for user files. OS files also are involved here.
Only solution is cloning.

Cloning makes exact copy of entire drive. It is not about a single file.

You'd need a system that you can connect multiple drives to - desktop computer for example.
Connect both - source and target hdd-s to it.
Launch cloning software and clone contents of one drive to another.
