Hey everyone,
So heres the deal, I am selling my PC but since I have 2 samsung evo ssds (250gb & 500gb), I am going to be keeping the 500gb for when I begin a new build, the only issue is the 250gb is my primary boot drive currently and I want to transfer all of the data safely.
I have searched google but can't find anything on transferring data from one ssd to another, and I didn't know if it would be a different process from a hdd, besides I wasn't going to just wing it and mess up all the data, so I seek your help. I only use my 500gb as my games drive so I can always redownload those, so I should probably just delete a load of games I don't play to give me enough space, I generally don't play too many games at once so this isnt an issue.
I have never transferred so much data before and I imagine I would have to clone it but I have no idea on how to do that if that is actually how it's done.
Thanks for your time!

For all practical purposes, your SSD behaves and works just like a hard drive, in fact it is a hard drive, it is just a solid state hard drive.
So you can clone an image of an SSD from one SSD to another, or to any other hard drive for that matter. There are numerous drive cloning software programs you can use for this purpose. The Samsung Web site will have free cloning software that will work with Samsung hard drives. A very good program you can purchase that has excellent cloning, imaging, and back up software is Acronis True Image. They used to have a free version you could download and use for like 30 days, not sure if they still do but worth checking out. The process is the same as cloning a hard drive. Just use some software like Acronis or Macrium Reflect to clone the data from the 250gb SSD to the 500gb SSD. (I presume you already have a means of connecting both SSDs to the same computer, e.g. a caddy)

The better software has many options like selecting certain files, or the whole drive, cloning from a large drive to a smaller drive, or vice versa, making the cloned drive bootable, or using as a backup, partition resizing and formatting options, and so on. Use a reputable software. Many of the "free" cloning programs you find around the web are very limited with what you can do.
