if it a cable modem...you log into it by wifi network and in the modem setup tools is a reset button.

I would note that if Wifi is turned off, you cannot turn it on via WiFi. You would need to physically connected the laptop via Ethernet and log in that way.

And in almost all recent routers, WiFi administration is turned OFF by default. This is a good thing.

On and off on a regular basis, as in I could be lying in bed watching a movie and then I could turn the internet off from the laptop without having to get out of bed 😛

Short answer: you can't. You could turn it off, but then you'd have to connect via ethernet cable to turn it back on again.

You can set up a schedule of sorts for access depending on the router firmware, but that may not be what you want.
