How do I turn up the bass on my headphones?

I recently bought a studio microphone as well as headphones after my headset died. However, I have noticed an annoying lack in bass. Does anyone know any settings that I can use to increase the bass?

You can use an equalizer to tweak the sound to your tastes.

most sound card software(including onboard) allows this. Some also have a bass boost or dedicated bass control.
