i have a windows 7 Home preuim key only for upgrade not for install so i need to install VISTA and upgrade from there.

Wipe the drive and start fresh if you are trying to install any sort of windows.

before wiping, do backups of all the files you want to save, back up first, always

then, format, install vista nad later the key you mention

You dont have to actually install vista, you can use the upgrade disc to do a clean install

some one said to format and install vista and vistia failed to install. so i put in the windows 7 disk and it says BOOTMGR missing

Yes it says BOOTMGR mising because you half installed vista, boot from the windows 7 CD, format the partition the half installed VIsta is on, and then install windows 7 clean from that CD.

Then follow the guide I linked and you will be able to activate it (I know the box is for upgrades but it will work the way guide says).

i cant boot from windows 7 it emedaly goes to that bootmgr is missing an i deleted unalloactod sapeces an partions.

You need to go into BIOS and select to boot from CD, if you are getting BOOTMGR missing error you are trying to boot from hard drive.

Boot from CD and then it will work.
