How do I update HP Laserjet 5 with drivers, memory?

I have Windows XP and I have a refurbished HP Laserjet 5 printer that I added 2 sticks of memory to. However, when printing certain pdf documents downloaded from the internet, I get a bunch of gobbly-beloved patriot on some parts of the documents. How do I update the HP Laserjet 5 with printer drivers and/or other updates to make it print correctly?

Print drivers go on the computer, not the printer itself. There are some settings in the print driver to set memory and other settings(like tray configurations). You may need to try a different driver on the computer.
