You have to reinstall Windows with the 64 bit version, then install all of your programs again.

Clean and fresh windows install, unfortunately.
There's no option to 'upgrade' it.

When you enter the Windows menu to install, after formating, it will show you which version of the OS you'd like to install, there just choose 64 bits and wait the rest.

I'd do a fairly good backup of files and drivers to prevent any problem.

Backup all your data and reinstall selecting the 64bit version. It takes a clean/custom install unfortuantly.

thats what i thought but when i restart my pc with the 64bt disk innothing happens it just does a normal restart any help?

Did you set your BIOS to boot from the disk?

You have to hit the f key that triggers your boot menu. Then select the drive with the install disk.

i pressed the f key and it started doing something but i just had a black screen so i couldnt see what was going on

You may need to reset your bios with that issue.

Every motherboard is different in that regard but they all reset if you remove the motherboard battery for 5 minutes. The battery is about the size of a nickel and round like a watch battery.
