I ordered some cheap ram from China and the seller is telling me to use an eraser to clear the memory pin on a stick of ram, here is the actual quote below.

uo_ou sent you a message about your request:

"Dear buyer Sorry for the trouble. The memory we have tested bfore shipping. Could you clear the memory pin use eraser and try it again? If still not work.i will resend or half refund you. Thanks"

What exactly are they talking about and can I use a regular eraser or does it take some kind of special kind, haha?

Do not attempt this stupid suggestion. People have been spreading around this "technique" for cleaning the pins on ram sticks. If your memory doesn't work, you could try using a very small amount of isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab and then carefully rub the pins on the RAM stick. The eraser method is stupid as it can leave small pieces between components and could end up stuck in the motherboard slots. And I've also seen stupid people breaking the PCH from applying too much pressure. If the stick doesn't work now, I doubt it will work after a cleanup if they actually tested it. It takes more than just the shipping process to get them dirty enough.
