How do I use my GTX 670's audio?

I have a Gigabyte Windforce 3X GTX 670 OC and I use my motherboard as the audio solution. I use an white and red audio adapter for my 2.1 surround setup which I connect to my 7.1 reciever. How can I use my video card's audio and video? On my GTX 670 I use my HDMI cable to my AOC moniter for just the video. Help me 🙁 I need advice on how to use my video card's NVIDIA audio🙁

How about using the hdmi out from the GTX and input that in to your 7.1 receiver, from the receiver hdmi output to the monitor hdmi input. Video passes thru the receiver.

Its kinda old but it has the same power of other new ones but just less options 🙁

The only way to use it is to pass it through a receiver that will take the digital surround audio and pass the video signal through a TV.

No. That will run through Nvidia HDMI Audio Drivers.

The audio out of your PC to a 2.1 speaker is downsampled analog stereo, meaning is is a lower quality audio stream. The audio from the Nvidia card is as stated by DiaSin an HDMI output which is a true digital output from the game or whatever you are watching and can be stereo, 5.1, 7.1, THX surround, whatever the quality is of the original source gets passed to your receiver. Your 2.1 is plain old stereo.

Good luck if your receiver does not have hdmi in and out. I don't think you can output audio via hdmi and video thru dvi-d at the same time.

What about using optical from your mobo to the receiver? Does your mobo have optical out?

The quality of the audio all depends on the source. So if you are playing BF3 through onboard sound or using a soundcard, that mixes the audio and outputs to the speakers. Using HDMI to the receiver means the audio goes directly from BF3 to the receiver, the video card does zero audio processing to my knowledge, it just passes it on.

I recently upgraded from an X-fi Fatality Xtreme Gramer with Z5500's to a Yamaha RX-V373 and JBL200.5 receiver and speakers. A single HDMI cable from GTX 670 to receiver and then HDMI to TV. The 2 cannot be compared, the positional audio and clarity is amazing and Headphones sounds very much alive too.

Bottom line, go optical if your motherboard and receiver support it. At least that way the receiver will process the audio for some better quality sound.
