Hello

I just move and got a new provider (Spectrum). The modem I got is the ARRIS DG1670A. I did not pay an extra $5 a month for a wireless modem because I have a old wireless modem from Verizon ( actiontec gt784wnv ). I was wondering if I can somehow connect the two together to get wireless internet for my home or do I have to go to walmart to buy a new wireless modem for my ARRIS DG1670A. If so, do I need to configure anything on either the modem or I just plug in the E-cable and it will work?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

To answer your question: you dont, you cant use a modem from a different ISP (even more so a different connection type).

Also what you are asking for and what you need are 2 very different things.
The devices sold today called "modems" are media converters. They take the cable or phone or fiber connection you get from your ISP and converts them into RJ45 ethernet (both converting them as far as cables go, and as far as the structure of the data).
Then there is a router. A router allows many devices to share a single internet connection, provides addresses and allows them to be networked together.

Most of the free or leased from your ISP boxes are modem-router combo boxes. In your case you have just a modem so what you actually need...

If you just need something basic for a small home than just get something like an asus rt-n12. If you want a budget modern one then get tp-link archer c1200, if you want something of good quality/features/range then get an asus rt-ac68(u, p, r, or w)
