How do i view a .dmp file?

my computer has been randomly crashing on me and when it comes back on it says...

'windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown'

When i go into the minidump folders there is 12 .dmp files that i cant open, please help.

I copied it to my desktop and it still says access denied

Right click on it
Select properties - Security tab
Change permissions as needed

hmm i have gone into properties but i cant see anything to set it as 'needed'

Properties - Security tab
"Group or user names" - do you see your user account in there?
If so, select it and see what permissions that user account has to that file
Modify the permissions as needed...
