How do mark my own Topic as SOLVED?

I just now spent 1/2 hour searching everywhere I could for the answer to this question. Can't find the answer.

It depends on the type of thread you opened. If it was a question, there should be a 'best answer' option, at the top of each response. Once you click that, the thread will be marked as 'solved.'

Yeah, I agree the current way to choose question vs discussion is not very good. I mean, once you are accustomed to it everything's fine, but at first it is easy to mess up.

Yes. Accurate information and Good instructions are especially important to people who are new to something, or else suffering AA_ADD (like me).

I'm still a little bit confused.

I did ask a question, and you answered it. But, I see no option to pick yours as "Best Answer." Maybe I was supposed to click something else when I first wrote the Topic question?

To me, it seems that by the mere fact that my Topic was a question, I should be able to pick the best answer given by others, and then apply it.

Is is too late now to give your reply a "Best Answer" rating?

A mod can switch it for you if you ask nicely (however for a post like this, definitely don't worry about it. But for a true technical question it is nice for those who read the post later).

However, here's the deal. There are two types of posts:

Discussion

Question

After you press "ask the community" there are two tabs at the top. Question and (the default) discussion. Choose question if you want to give a best answer.

See the quote to the left of your thread title? That indicates that it's a discussion thread, not a question. Discussion threads aren't set up to have a best answer, they are intended for discussions. Question threads have a ? to the left of the title.

I'm just here to help. I'm not worried about the best answer. Hope this helped....

Unless that's a function that I'm not aware of, we can't.

I have heard that the owner of the thread can change it, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

Hmm, I thought one said they could, but I certainly don't have any evidence. Just goes to show why I shouldn't go suggesting about things I know little about.

We can switch it fro Discussion to Question I think, but not back the other way.

You just edit the OP and switch the type as you would when creating the thread. I can't vouch personally for how well it works as I've never done it.

Change author, change thread type, then change back to original author?

If that's the case, the OP should have that function as well.

You don't need to change the author. You should just be able to edit it (only one way) as is. Maybe it works for normal users too, but I don't know. When in doubt, assume it doesn't work. That's how I use this software.

In case anyone else missed it, the way to make a reply as the best answer is to click the Trophy Icon to the left of their post. I thought that was just marking an achievement that people had earned

This, being a 9 year old thread, referring to an old platform...the functionality has changed significantly.
