Yeah so how do people game at 1440p and 4k if dvi and hdmi only support 1920 x 1200. What cable do they use?

Maybe you should read up on what HDMI is capable of...
"HDMI 1.4 increases the maximum resolution to 4K × 2K"
"This allows HDMI 2.0 to carry 4K resolution at 60 frames per second (fps)"

Also, the other connection types are capable of higher resolutions.
Display port is a type of cable that is also capable of next gen resolutions.
