How do the number of drives on the main buss affect system speed?

A little more detail for perhaps a simple question: I currently have two SATA drives; one for OS and Apps and the other for data. Full disclosure: there is another external drive on USB for data backup.

Would the system run faster if I added a third drive to split off Apps?
I would then have three drives: OS, Apps, data.

Thanks

Solution
your current samsung is fine, going with something faster wont give u any noticeable differences
the only benefit would be that 256gb limited space
dividing apps between different drives if they perform at similar speeds, wont give u any performance boost
it depends on which drive ull be getting, if u have two normal platter drives and want to add an SSD, then ull get better results to have OS+apps on that ssd

Thanks for the reply,
I currently have a Samsung 830 256GB SSD which contain W10 and all the applications, including games.
I have another HDD (WD Black 1TB) for all data.
The question boils down to..if I take W10 off the SSD, buy another and put W10 on it, will that affect system speed?
I don't know if main buss speed is faster than the R/W cycle of and SSD.

Thanks
