I'm considering a cylidrical reservoir for my first watercooling build, but don't understand certain designs.

In this model (EK RES X4 250), when the water flows in from the top, doesn't it produce bubbles like a waterfall?

In this model (Alphacool Eisbecher 150), what is that inside tube coming up from the bottom?

Here is that tube again (Alphacool Eisbecher 150 Lite), yet coming from the top:

Can someone shed some lighr?

Solution
Starting at the top:

a) EK RES X4 250 - possibly, if the reservoir is only partially full. Also, there are fittings at the bottom for inlet/outlet as well. Most of these reservoirs also include a siphon tube that can be used to inlet water into the pump or can be used to 'fill' the reservoir from the return flow.

b) Alphacool Eisbecher 150 - that is a siphon tube, many reservoirs come with these as an option. It can be used on the inlet into the reservoir or the outlet to control fluid flow and minimize cyclonic action and air bubbles. Ideally, the coolant level would be above this piece and near the top of the reservoir to prevent air being pulled into the coolant stream or otherwise introducing air from the 'fountain' effect...

c) Alphacool Eisbecher 150 Lite - same as on the Eisbecher. These siphon tubes are threaded so they can be installed at any internal fitting location you wish. Likewise, the anti-cyclonic 'piece' in the middle can often be removed as an optional piece if you wish. The reservoir setup all depends on where your inlet and outlet ports will actually be. You are not required to have an inlet on the top and outlet on the bottom...most have multiple bottom ports and top ports, and you can setup in any config you wish.
