How in the world do they get it for so cheap and sell it for much less than any other store out there? I wonder if it's a scam or I'm just missing something. I know the prices are outrageous in the first place but there is a pretty significant difference in price.

One of the buyers claims the software is illegal

Software ended up being illegal. Failing Windows validation. Ignores my emails.

It's legit. The seller has access to a distributor. One of the popular distributors is www.malabs.com, where you can buy a 3 pack for about $150-200. The more you buy, the cheaper they get. The software has about a 200% markup on it when it hits the store shelves.

Besides that, I don't find OS's to be over priced, considering how long they're used and how much work goes into them. XP has been around.. 3 years now? Maybe closer to 4. If you get it for $200, you're paying 50/year, which is a computer game, that you'll normally play for 3-4 months, then quit.

Games are the rip off, the OS is a better investment. It's a big upfront cost, but it's something you're always using when you're on your computer.

I was doing this for my brother because he wanted to start a custom computer business.

But to me, I'm a cheap arse, like wusy. I use a corporate OS myself, and Half Life 2 is all I need for games. The rest of the misc software I download.

But I mentioned to him about going to distributors for reselling. I don't really know where to start looking but that site looked great. I'll have to look into it a bit more.

It's one of the distributors.. you need a password to view pricing, which if you call and setup an account, you get the password and stuff. They'll require an account number to a checking account that has like $20,000 in it.. or at least it was 3 years ago. It may have changed since then.
The passwords change quarterly, it used to be "maddr" when DDR memory was big. It's a really good site and things are amazingly cheap, but you need to be a business to order anything from them.
