I have tried to use SpeedFan but nothing is working, I know there's a way to change the fan speed manually in the BIOS but I don't know how. The fan keeps shutting off while I play games and makes the game's frame rate drop massively as it heats up. Is there a way that I can force the fan to be on at full speed all the time?

Solution
Yes that is in the BIOS same section... I think page 22 explains it.
You could also set the CPU Fan Speed Control to Disabled... You have three settings: Silent, Manual and Disabled.. disabled Allows the fan to run at full speeds.

Shutting off completely? That is another issue entirely. I would however check the BIOS under hardware or something like that. What motherboard is it?

It is a Gigabyte GA-B85M-HD3

As I said, check the BIOS under hardware or something to that effect.

I checked and changed the fan control to manual but it is asking me to set the slope and I don't know what it means. It is currently on 0.75 and the max is 2.50

I don't know what that means or what to do

"Slope" must mean the temperature curve, check the manual from page 18 through 32 for any setting suggesting that.. or detailed information on the fan speed or CPU temp warning. I'll keep searching through the manual for any relative information.

Slope PWM (page 23)
Allows you to control the fan speed. This item is configurable only when
System Fan Speed Control is set to Manual
Options are: 0.75 PWM value / ºC ~ 2.50 PWM value / ºC.

Based on the description of PWM (Pulse Width Modulation), the higher setting must be higher power applied to the fan motor for higher fan speed and more frequent intermittence between stopped and running state which should translate to cooler running CPU.

I'm looking at it but I don't understand what to set the slope to, would it be better higher or lower?

As I understand it, higher is better for cooler runing CPU. I Edited the last answer... check it again.
In any case, configure it to the higher setting, and use the computer, later adjust it to the lower setting and see the difference so you can adjust it to the best setting.

Its weird that it would stop running. Even when I am at 9C my PWM water pump keeps running at full tilt. Sounds almost like a motherboard issue.

Is that in the BIOS too?

I thought it was SpeedFan at first, messing it up but I've removed it now and tried changing everything but it still doesn't work, I don't know what to do next.

So if I just disable it it will run at full speed?

Ok I'll try that in a minute

Games should not have influence on the CPU fan, but CPU heat they cause may... obviously a fan in good condition would not be affected.

My Advice:
1. Consider replacing the CPU fan
2. and meanwhile recheck the Silent Fan Speed Control in the BIOS settings... check it still is on Disabled.
3. Reset the BIOS and after that reset the Fan Speed Control to disabled.
4. A BIOS update would remove possible BIOS corruption.

How do I do any of those?
