The free version of Macrium Reflect should work no problem.i don't want to spend any more money though.. i already spent like 120 bucks on that vintage piece of hardware over the past few days. isn't there a cloning software i can burn on a disk or something?

Softmod is the easiest for someone who doesn't want to open up the system and start soldering but it needs a game and additional stuff like a certain memcard or action replay you have to get.
Hardmoding with a cheap chip from ebay is the cheapest solution but you will have to open up the system tear it apart completely and solder some points on the motherboard.
