How do you connect router to cable modem?

I am trying to connect a Linksys E1500 to a Motorola Surfboard SB6141.

Connect the Coax cable from the wall into the Surfboard SB6141.
Connect the Ethernet cable from the Surfboard SB6141 to Linksys E1500's Internet port.

I tried this. However, when I try to get online on my desktop it tells me there is no internet.

Does the Router light up with internet or wireless?
Plug your laptop or PC in there and type in 192.168.0.1 into any browser's address bar and configure the router.
