How do you feel about this build? My first high-end build

Some backstory for you: I am a teenager that loves building and tinkering with PCs, but I have never had enough money to be on the latest generation of tech. I have always been about two generations behind and I am sick of it. It's time to replace a four year old GTX 570, an inefficient AMD quad core, 4GBs of RAM, and a crappy MSI motherboard.

Here's what I've come up with:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K
CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: ASRock Fatal1ty Z87 Killer ATX Motherboard
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Samsung 840 Evo 120GB SSD and 750GB Western Digital Drive
GPU: EVGA GTX 770 Dual Classified ACX 4GB
Case: NZXT H440 (Red & Black)
PSU: Corsair AX760 80+ Platinum Modular PSU
Keyboard: Cooler Master CMStorm Quickfire Rapid
Mouse: Thermaltake MO-SPH008DT Mouse
Other Extras: Corsair White PSU Cables

Any suggestions on ways to improve this build will be greatly appreciated. This is my first high-end build and I'm really excited to start saving up. Also, if anyone wants to give this build a name, that's fine by me.

Looks great to me.

Just two things:

If you want to save some money I would get a 750W Gold+ fully modualr psu for $100 and cheaper ram for $65. Other than that the build looks great.

And also unless you're gaming on multiple monitors there's no need for a 4GB version of the 770.


If you didn't care about aesthetics as much, you could still have it look decent and have a 780 instead of a 770.

I originally had a maximum price set at about $1500 and whenever I threw together a price list for the first time, I used a cheaper PSU, cheaper RAM, and the cheapest 770 I could find and it was way less than I expected, so I figured why not just upgrade the components that I can and this is what I got. Also, the Platinum PSU will help with energy efficiency as our house is slowly switching over to strictly solar power and I was worried about power consumption.

Right now, the price for all these components (excluding KB and mouse) is $1478.92 with shipping from Newegg. I know I can probably make it cheaper by buying the parts from different places, but I prefer to get all my stuff at once, so there is no waiting to finish building. (I also have the 2 Day shipping membership 😀)

I have come up with something else. It uses the same motherboard, CPU, cooler, and PSU, but these are the new parts:

Storage: Mushkin 120GB SSD and 750GB Western Digital Drive
GPU: XFX Double D R9 280X 3GB
Case: Corsair 600T Silver (More expensive, I know, but I really love this case)
Keyboard: Perixx PX-5000 Mechanical Keyboard
Mouse: Perixx MX-2000 Mouse

The total for the entire build is $1366.92
