How do you format a sd card for a kodak camera dx6490

If the camera will not format it, then.....
I would get an sd card reader. I'd plug it into my computer. then i'd access it and format it with my computer.

This is not recommended......But, in your case, it seems like your only option. Normaly, camera manufacturers want you to use your camera for formatting. If you are not able to see it on your computer either, then it's pretty obvious that you have a bad card. Have you tried a different sd card in your camera? The camera could be the problem as well......

Good luck

With you SD card connected, type "computer" in start search box. Select Computer Management>Storage>Disk Management

Look for your card there. If it is not showing up, then your card is dead.

If there is a card then you probably need to give it a volume and a driver letter.

After the computer recognise the card, try format it on the camera.

It is recommended to format the SD media in the device you use or use the SD card formatter provided by the SD Association for best compatibility. Using the format function on Window increase the chance of incompatibility with other digital device.

Hello Friends,
You have an eight year old "camera". It won't work with an SDHC card. Although it is the same physical size only an SD card(2GB or less)will work electronically. This is a common problem with older cameras.
Thanks
