How do you hide a program from the task manager?

I have monitoring software on my computer and there is an option that allows me l stealth install, which includes being hidden task manager.

When I open task manager, I see the process. Is there anything I can do to stop this? Registry tweaks or something that does not cost money?

This could be used for less honorable reasons like virus hiding. I am closing this under the "no support for hacking" category.
