I have an Asus HDMI monitor and want to add a second monitor which is a HD Tv with HDMI.
My Asus Z97 - Deluxe motherboard only has one HDMI plug on back of MB.
So I thought I'd install that Thunderbolt EX II card so I could get ability to install more monitors and apparently the card gives better transfer speed and quality.
But looking at the setup for that, I see the card connects to MB using the two display ports ( using supplied cables - one is a "display port cable" which looks like a HDMI on each end and the other supplied cable is called a "mini Display port cable" which has on one end, something that looks like a HDMI cable and on other end a smaller plug.
So then after connecting that card, the instruction book shows that you then take those two cables and connect the Thunderbolt card to the MB using both of the supplied cables. There then are two unused Thunderbolt ports (1 & 2).
So how would I then connect my monitors since there would be no HDMI ports available. I see the card has two "Thunderbolt ports" 1 & 2. But I am not sure how to connect my monitors to that type of port. Do I need some additional cable or adapter?
Do I need to set up a "daisy chain" to take advantage of the enhanced card features for the HD TV?
I need help. The support person I called at component dept. at Asus doesn't seem to really know what I 'm talking about and is telling me to just get a y connector for my HDMI port. I want to use the Thunderbolt card. Are there other cables I need to accomplish this and if so, what are they called?
Any help would be Greatly appreciated!
