Question How do you know if a new storage drive is compatible?

I was trying to upgrade my storage for my desktop since I was running low, and was thinking about going with a 4tb internal hard drive. Thing is I'm new to this, so I was wondering how you're supposed to tell if a drive is compatible with my build? A "
WD - Blue 4TB Internal SATA Hard Drive for Desktops" is going for $107 while a "
Seagate 4 TB Terascale HDD SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive (ST4000NC001)" is going for $80. I was just curious if anyone is able to give some insight into the compatibility of either drive and how to tell? I think I may need a Sata 3 cable as well though? I'm pretty sure Western digital works since 2 of my drives are them already, but the less you have to pay the better I'd say.

Its ok, your system is compatible with either HDD you listed assuming you are running Windows 10. I personally recommend WD (Western Digital). Before you install the 4TB HDD you may wish to look up a tutorial on how to install and setup your new HDD.

Just as a side note I noticed you are running a older version of AGESA which indicates you are likely due for a UEFI update from your motherboard manufacturer.

So on a modern system such as yours you are looking for a SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard drive also called SATA III or SATA 3. There are 3 relevant SATA levels. I, II, and III. For Hard drives and SATA the best available is SATA III for your system.

As for the RPM you generally have a few standard choices. 5400RPM (Slow), 5900RPM (better), 7200RPM (best performance). For larger capacity hard drives you intend to use in a standard ATX computer you want a 3.5" (inch) Hard Drive if this was a laptop then you'd need a 2.5"x7mm Hard Drive.

I do not recommend ebay for Hard Drives if you can avoid it even if they are listed as new. Use www.pcpartpicker.com to find the best current new price for your new HDD and other components in the future.

How would I go about doing the motherboard update and how would I run my DDR4 at DDR4-3000 ?
