I'm getting a modem with 2.4ghz and 5ghz and I was wondering how I could connect my PC to the 5ghz band or is it if I just use a Ethernet it will automatically go to the 5ghz band
Or is that only for wireless and it doesn't matter when it's plugged in to a Ethernet
Thanks

Solution
2.4GHz and 5GHz are only for wireless, not wired.
Your PC needs to have a 5GHz capable WiFi card in it. If you ever see wireless networks in your list when you to connect that say 5G at the end, then you have a 5GHz capable card. Or you can tell us the model of wireless network card you have (look in device manage) and we can tell you if it can do 5GHz or not.

Your router will have different names for the 2.4 or the 5ghz band.
So IF your device has a 5 ghz capabile wifi card you can connect to the 5ghz band.

Now you mentioned ethernet. If you are able to hook your computer to ethernet that is always going to be faster and better then wifi.
