how do you turn on wireless capability if pushing f12 doesn't work on Compacq cq57

Compaq Presario CQ57, the F12 key turns on and off the wifi, however, pushing the button does not enable wifi, it only turns on and off the airplane mode. Network diagnostics says to push button or flip switch on laptop to enable wifi, but F12 button won't work. How do you turn on the wifi capability without using the button, or how do you reset the f12 switch

You should download a driver for it:
http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers -> enter your HP model number
Then search for Wireless Button Driver

Also go to your Device Manager and expand Network Adapters and choose you wireless adapter... right click it and go to Properties. Then go to the Power Management tab and uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.” Restart is required !
