Man I'm having a lot of problems today. I'm asking how to update pc component drivers. What I'm thinking I have to do is go to device manager and from there go to the component I mean to update and click on it, go to the driver tab and click update driver, then search automaticaly for driver update. BUT here's the part I don't understand. It doesn't find anything. The driver date is from 2006!!! The driver version is 6.1.7600.16385
I don't understand why this is happening.

Solution
Download the latest drivers from the hardware manufacturer's website. Drivers from the manufacturer will be the most current but there are several other driver download options. but that's the best safest way imo

Pay close attention when installing Device Doctor. It defaults to installing a Toolbar, and changing your default search and home page, and some other foolishness called "Search Protect".
That gets a BIG thumbs down from me. As in completely cancelling the install...see ya bye bye, Mr Device Doctor.
I do not tolerate crap like that.

Yeah one look at the home screen and I decided to choose device magician. It was a bit "cleaner"

Keep in mind that an older driver is not necessarily an out of date driver.
Some device manufacturers could be out of business and their drivers orphaned. Some drivers could be for the XP and Vista systems only and the manufacturer decided not to release an upgrade for the newer OS out there. Other drivers are just fine the way they are so no new version was ever made.
Generally, the driver mantra is if the device is working then don’t mess around with updating the drivers.
