I am looking into purchasing either the Asus PG279Q, or the Asus PG27AQ to be primarily be used in conjunction with my computer, but I would also like to use a PS4 Pro with it until I can afford to purchase a separate 4K display. My main concern is what will I have to deal with if I were to use the PS4 with either of these monitors? Horrendous scaling? Ghosting? Of course I know that G-Sync won't work. And that I will not be able to utilize the high refresh rates. That's a given.

Solution
The monitor will do one of two things, run in 1080p as a native resolution (most monitors can do this).
Or run in 1440p and just upscale the image, no biggie.

Either way it will look about the same as it does on a 1080p TV.

The 1440p gaming IPS monitors used today are about twice the price of a console. Yes, IPS panels have better color depth so many peeps are choosing them after reading on line forums. The thing is yes, IPS 1440p monitors look great and don't ghost or have lag issues. The problem is the IPS panels that are fast enough to do that are all $750 range... and climbing in price since their release. The two go to monitors here are:

I wouldn't rush out to get 4k.... While two 1080 Tis are capable of driving it quite well, with Display Port 1.4, there's no 4k monitor. ... heck there's no cable that supports DP 1.4 and therefore no bandwidth to support 4k at high refresh rates. To my eyes, investing in a 4k monitor saddled with DP 1.3 is unwise. I don't see gamers giving up high refresh rates to get to 4k. And when the DP 1.4 stuff finally drops, everything out there will go the way of betamax and floppy drives.
