How Does AMD Radeon Dual Graphics work?

Hello, I've recently purchased the HP ENVY 15z -j100, with the discrete Graphics card option.

I've looked into the "Dual-Graphics" Technology that works similar to Crossfire, and uses both the APU and Discrete GPU to provide maximum performance in games. I have also read, however, that when the technology doesn't work on a game, for some reason, it defaults to using the Lowest power GPU, in this case I think the APU is weaker.

I've Played Battlefield 4, and it definitely works seamlessly, but I'm worried about games that cannot use Dual Graphics, I'd rather it default to using the Discrete than the APU. (Which I assume a game called "Vindictus" does not take advantage of this technology because I can easily run it on Ultra with a GTX670 on a Desktop with 60fps but Battlefield 4 only gets 40-50fps ULTRA.

How do I change it so that the default Graphics card is the Discrete?

what driver version are you on? i i think they added this option in 14.7 or 14.8 14.9 stable has it for sure.

open ccc go to gaming then 3d app settings. from there hit add and browse to your game exe. click on the game that was added and scroll down to crossfire and the crossfire mode. select Use AMD pre-defined profile and select the game profile you want to use
i would say by default the games should use the discrete gpu if for some reason it does not support dual graphics. has to be some sort of setting like on the nvidia control panel to auto select the dedicated card for gaming etc.

or you could always use the bf4 profile in ccc that works well with the dual graphics, just add the game to the options and go down to the bottom and select that profile, works well for me on games that dont work well with crossfire.

Where do I find these "Profiles".

I see a preset option in ccc, but it's presets that I would have to configure myself, and then just swtich between them on the fly. Is there a list of "Profiles" for specific games?
