How does cabling work from your house to the ISP?

I usually see ISP companies climbing up the telephone poles to put up wires from the customer's house and then how do they wire it back to their company? What do they have to do after the wires reach back to their company?

Thanks.

Lol.... Are you asking for Internet or Phone service?

Internet goes like this... Starting w/ the cabling @ your computer (even if it is WiFi, still Layer1)

Computer - NIC - Ethernet Cable/WiFi radio - Switch - Router - Modem - wall outlet - ISP box on Building - Cable to Pole/Conduit - Cable concentration point -
Fiber - "CO" (the CO is where the magic begins) - Enters Internet - Magic
