How does disk formatting fix errors on a USB or a Hard disk drive?

Asking such a question on a public forum I do not believe it is the instructor's intent to have someone else do your assignments for you. For one, it defeats the purpose of the assignment, two you have no way of verifying the validity of the source.

Go to a reputable site to get an answer. Not saying that this is not one, but if it is for coursework, you might be better of doing that.
