How does one choose a motherboard?

I wanted to know what people look at while choosing a motherboard, I see many builds on YouTube and I was looking forward to doing my own but I could never be user which motherboard would be compatible for my GPU and CPU, how to choose?

Usually make decisions as follows:

(1) AMD or intel CPU?
(2) Which chipset/socket type?
(3) SLi/Crossfire or single GPU?
(4) Overclocking or stock?
(5) Budget?

Based on the answers of these questions you can pretty much narrow down your choices to a handful of boards.

1. Compatibility. Primarily, the socket to go with a particular CPU.
2. Features that you want.
3. Some people may also focus on a color theme.
